Artistic Response

Here is my artistic response to this week's Soul-Calendar-03 meditation verse by Rudolf Steiner. For a brief introduction to this project, please see my first couple of posts on the blog pages. See also calendarofthesoul.net where you can see a range of translations into English and other languages. By the way, I am not in any way suggesting that my translations are preferable to any of the published translations. But I don't want to infringe any copyright, hence I am offering my own, literal, translations here.

Soul-Calendar-03 meditation

Rudolf Steiner's original soul-calendar-03 meditation
April 21-27
.
Es spricht zum Weltenall,
Sich selbst vergessend
Und seines Urstands eingedenk,
Des Menschen wachsend Ich:
In dir, befreiend mich
Aus meiner Eigenheiten Fessel,
Ergründe ich mein echtes Wesen.

My translation
There speak to the world-all,
Itself forgetting
And of its origin mindful,
The human’s growing I:
In you, freeing me
From my selfhood’s shackle,
Fathom I my try being.

My interpretation of the soul-calendar-03 meditation

In the previous verse, I as a human being, was rediscovered by the spiritual worlds, while at the same time my ordinary power of thought was undermined. This week I gradually forget myself, but having been found by the spiritual world, I trust that, growing just as gradually into my true self, my origin, the foundation of my deepest being lies in those worlds, those spiritual worlds. I speak to the world-all and thereby acknowledge its existence and enter into conscious relationship with it. I speak to them of this recognition of my true origin and the realisation that, through my own effort, my own inner work, I need to free myself from the shackles, the chains of my lower self, my daily, personal, small identity in order to transform the trust of my origin into certainty.
