Here is my artistic response to this week's Soul-Calendar-48 meditation verse by Rudolf Steiner. For a brief introduction to this project, please see my first couple of posts on the blog pages. See also calendarofthesoul.net where you can see a range of translations into English and other languages. By the way, I am not in any way suggesting that my translations are preferable to any of the published translations. But I don't want to infringe any copyright, hence I am offering my own, literal, translations here.
Rudolf Steiner's original soul-calendar-48 meditation
Im Lichte, das aus Weltenhöhen
Der Seele machtvoll fliessen will,
Erscheine, lösend Seelenrätsel,
Des Weltendenkens Sicherheit,
Versammelnd seiner Strahlen Macht,
Im Menschenherzen Liebe weckend.
In light, which from world-heights
To the soul powerfully flowing wants,
Let appear, solving soul-riddles,
The world-thinking's certainty,
Collecting her rays-power,
In human-hearts love awakening.
Moving toward spring, having armed our thinking, now the light from the cosmos wills to flow towards the human soul. May this divine light, now finding my thinking prepared, dissolve the soul's riddles and give rise to certainty. May it focus its beams and awaken love in human hearts. This cosmic light, which perhaps is the sources of life, of all life, is seeking to unit itself with the human soul. And, having prepared within us a recepticle, a chalice to receive this light, it might dwell within us and help us to really see who we are. If I could really know the origin and nature of my being, then surely there would be no more mysteries or riddles, but instead I would be able to purposefully lead my life in the knowledge that I am divine. At the same time, the deepest conceivable love would then be awakened in me, which will guide me to act in accordance with the divine?
