Here is my artistic response to this week's Soul-Calendar-49 meditation verse by Rudolf Steiner. For a brief introduction to this project, please see my first couple of posts on the blog pages. See also calendarofthesoul.net where you can see a range of translations into English and other languages. By the way, I am not in any way suggesting that my translations are preferable to any of the published translations. But I don't want to infringe any copyright, hence I am offering my own, literal, translations here.
Rudolf Steiner's original soul-calendar-49 meditation
Ich fühle Kraft des Weltenseins:
So spricht Gedankenklarheit,
Gedenkend eignen Geistes Wachsen
In finstern Weltennächten,
Und neigt dem nahen Weltentage
Des Innern Hoffnungsstrahlen.
I feel strength of world-being;
So speaks thought-clarity,
Remembering its own spirit-growing
In dark world-nights,
And tends to approaching world-day
Of inner hope-rays.
We're gradually moving towards the Spring equinox. The days are lengthening noticebly, there is a warming up of the soil and through the previous verses I have prepared myself within to receive what is gradually unfolding in the world of the senses. By diving deeper into the experience of thinking, I feel how it derives from the very foundation of the world and can thus feel the strength of 'world-being'. I can only experience this through really thinking through and feeling through what thinking really is and how is has developed or even transformed over the winter season, through the darkness and the clarity of nature's outlines. With this experience, or even a glimpse of it, I have courage to approach to dawning day of the world, filled with the inner rays or beams of light of hope, a hope of eventually finding myself in the world and the world in me. Through this hope, perhaps I can also develop a renewed love for the world and for myself, in my divine manifestions.
